The mission of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance is to support communities to play a full and effective role in the AIDS response. Our vision is a world in which people do not die of AIDS. Since 1994, the Alliance and its partners have supported over 3,000 projects, in over 40 countries, reaching millions of people.

The International HIV/AIDS Alliance is seeking a highly-qualified, dynamic and experienced person to fulfill the role of Senior Advisor: HIV prevention. This post is a senior position within the Alliance secretariat which will guide good practice in HIV programming and raise the importance of the role of communities in preventing HIV with global policy makers and donors. The successful post-holder will join a team of Senior Advisors in the HIV Best Practice Unit based at the Alliance’s secretariat in Brighton, UK.

The position has four major components: helping to define and establish good practice standards in HIV prevention for community organisations; guiding and framing technical support provided to programmes by the Alliance’s regional technical support hubs; participating in and influencing global policy fora and donor practice on HIV prevention programming; and conceptualising and writing applications for funding. To do this, the post-holder must have the experience and technical capacity to provide leadership across the Alliance on HIV prevention practice in both concentrated and generalised epidemics, in developing countries.

In two high TB burden countries, India and Kenya, ACTION partners are working with national governments and civil society to mobilize greater financial support and to overcome key policy constraints that have impeded successful and rapid expansion of TB treatment.

ACTION partners also work to expand and transfer skills for effective TB advocacy to additional donor and high burden countries.

The secretariat for the ACTION project is hosted by RESULTS Educational Fund (REF) in Washington, DC. REF is committed to educating the public, the media, and leaders about issues related to poverty and hunger in the United States and abroad. RESULTS Educational Fund is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt nonprofit organization. More information can be found at www.results.org.

Provide technical and administrative support to implementing partners for ensuring implementation of project activities according to approved workplan

Liaise with PEPFAR/Lesotho, AED/Washington and national implementation partners to ensure that expectations for program, challenges and actual performance are clearly communicated and addressed in the interest of optimal program functioning

Build capacity of community partners to maintain and expand efforts to reduce MCP and HIV

Deputy Chief of Party

Actively searching for a French-speaking Deputy Chief of Party for an ongoing, long-term project, Intégré de Santé Familiale (PISAF – Integrated Family Health Program) in Benin, under the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI).

This is a USAID-funded project and will run another approximately 18 months, with a possibility of project extension beyond that.

The individual must have excellent financial management, administrative, project/program management and donor experience (preferably USAID), and experience in the region (not necessarily Benin but that would be beneficial). Experience with QuickBooks accounting software is highly preferred. It is not a technical position so in-depth health expertise not required, but knowledge of the health sector in Benin or another West African country would be helpful.
