Programme Summary

The ChezaSalama.com website, a Femina HIP (Health Information Project) product, is a resource for young people and educators throughout the East African region and beyond. Interactive and bi-lingual (Swahili and English), the website aims to mirror the content and messages of other Femina HIP multimedia products, providing youth with vital information on sexuality, relationships, reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS.

Communication Strategies

ChezaSalama.com includes information for youth on relationships, safe sex, health, job opportunities, music, fashion, and celebrities. One of its themes is "get educated about sexuality". Femina HIP believes that positive, open talk is the best way to learn about love and life. The site encourages young people to talk, ask questions, and share their experiences on interactive pages with online chat, feedback pages, and opinion polls.

The website also has sections on current events, games, and updates on other Femina HIP products such as the latest issues of Fema magazine, Si Mchezo! magazine, and the Fema TV Talk Show.

The website is actively promoted through Femina HIP media products, other websites, chezasalama.com partner organisations - Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW) and Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), and other popular channels. Offline CD copies are available to schools and Fema Clubs with computers but no Internet access.
