Region

Global

Deadline Date

April 30 2007

The National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC), Mundo Latino (TV and Video Producing Company) and VIDEOMED (International Contest of Medical, Health and Telemedicine Cinema, Badajoz, Spain) seek films for the IV International Competition VIDEOMED-CUBA 2007, which will be held June 4 to 8 2007, at the National Center for Scientific Research of Cuba.

This contest hopes to boost the production of cinema and video focused on all medical aspects related to healthcare, with a particular focus on new communication techniques, medical imaging and telemedicine (advertising works and filmed lessons will not be included).

VIDEOMED-CUBA 2007 accepts films from all filmmakers, no matter their country or residence. The film format should be either VHS casette (NTSC system), DVD, VCD or miniDVD, and they should be no longer than 30 minutes. The official languages are Spanish and English although works in other languages may be accepted. Each filmmaker may present any number of works; films may receive more than one award.

First, second and third places will be awarded to the best films presented. Other awards will be given to the best scientific series, the most original script and the best photography, if the jury considers it appropriate.

Deadline for registration is April 30 2007. Those films received after the deadline may be exhibited, but participation in the contest is not guaranteed.
