Ignorance is a Disease: A Short Play on Reproductive Health EducationAuthorMohammed Kuta Yahaya
Summary"This publication is a play about the story of a woman who got married at the tender age of 14 years. She was requested by her father to marry a man of his choice who is married with two other wives. She obliged as the culture prescribed. The matrimonial challenge was very tough for her to bear. There was stiff competition with other wives for food, shelter, clothes and sexual relationship. Within the cultural setting, the wife that cooks the food automatically accommodates the husband for the night. This practice is rotational from the most senior wife to the junior one. In the process everyone scrambles for her share as the time comes by."
This play covers major development issues particularly public health, (maternal/ child health, HIV/AIDS prevention, environmental conservation in agriculture, family size issues, poverty and community relations).
