Communication for Polio Eradication and Routine Immunisation Checklists and Easy Reference Guides

Publication Date

February 1, 2002

Summary

This document includes nineteen checklists and reference guides that the BASICS and CHANGE projects prepared in August 2000 on behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nation's Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). These checklists and guides cover communication and mobilisation aspects of routine immunisation and disease surveillance, in addition to supplementary immunisation for polio eradication.

Individual countries and programmes are encouraged by the authors to adapt the checklists in line with their organisational and project-based strategies, plans and resources. The lists and guides can be used independently or in combination and can be incorporated into other materials, depending on programme needs. For example, the information can be incorporated into national and subnational guidelines or reproduced and disseminated as stand-alone resource documents to regional/provincial, district, and community-level teams.

Most of the checklists are one to three pages in length and are grouped into the following three sections:
  • planning and strategies
  • messages and media
  • monitoring and supervision

Unfortunately, this document no longer appears to be available from the publishers.
