Carol H. Pitchersky Development Fellowship

Country

United States

Deadline Date

January 15, 2009

The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund invites applicants from the United States (US) for the Carol H. Pitchersky Development Fellowship. The fellowship was established to develop and broaden the capacity of social justice organisations to raise funds necessary to serve their respective missions and further the civil rights community's goals of equality, equal opportunity, and mutual respect. Every other year, the fellowship programme will identify and support persons of colour who are aspiring development professionals, who have demonstrated a commitment to civil rights and social justice, and who wish to advance their careers in nonprofit fundraising.

The fellow will serve as a member of the fundraising team in a US host organisation, assist in development operations, receive mentoring, and deepen his/her knowledge and understanding of the social justice community. The award consists of: a two-year placement at a civil rights or human rights organisation at a salary in the range of US$40,000 to US$65,000; a health and benefits package; mentoring from one member of a committee of fundraising professionals dedicated to the institutional advancement of social justice and civil rights organisations; association with a network of development professionals; and training in development strategies and operations as they are applied to nonprofit organisations in the social justice sector. The 2009-2011 Fellow will be placed at the national office of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in New York City, US. Complete programme information is available at the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund website.

The deadline for application is January 15 2009.
