Pulse Polio Awareness Rallies Planned in Villages on January 5,6

Summary

This article describes awareness rallies that were planned in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to increase acceptance of the country's Pulse Polio Immunisation programme. On January 5 and 6 of 2007, schoolchildren from all villages in the district of Anantapur were set to participate in these rallies, including an estimated 4.3 million children within the optimal age group for polio vaccination. The district administration also encouraged involvement from teachers, Anganwadi workers, volunteers, cadets, and women's self-help groups, among others.
