Event summary

Organised by the United Nations Fund for Population (UNFPA), this Regional Meeting on Key Issues and Lessons Learned, will bring together organisations working in the areas of gender-based violence (GBV) and/or HIV in Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan, and Somalia. The purpose of this meeting is to facilitate dialogue among humanitarian actors working on gender-based violence and/or HIV in conflict/post-conflict settings and/or in natural disasters in the East, Central, and Southern Africa region. The focus of the meeting will be on reviewing a draft strategic framework for addressing the intersections of GBV and HIV in humanitarian settings, as well as discussion of best practices in the region and strategies for improving coordination of GBV and HIV programming efforts.

Registration Information

The organisers state that participants should have experience working on either HIV or GBV, with some understanding of, or exposure to, programming that seeks to address the intersections of these epidemics in humanitarian settings in the above-mentioned countries. An application form should be completed and forwarded to the below-mentioned contact. Space is limited and priority will be given to those with GBV and/or HIV field experience in the relevant countries. Participants will be provided with detailed information on venue and agenda once applications have been reviewed and accepted. Agencies will be required to support the participation of their staff, including travel and accommodation. The conference package will be supported by UNFPA.
