UN Trust Fund – Call for Proposals

Region

Global

Deadline Date

April 17, 2009

The United Nations Trust Fund in Support of Actions to Eliminate Violence Against Women (The UN Trust Fund) calls for grant proposals for its annual grants focused on supporting the implementation of national policies, laws, and action plans on ending violence against women. The grant funds are available to government authorities at the national and local levels; civil society organisations and networks, including non-governmental organisations (NGO), women’s and community-based organisations, and coalitions and operational research institutions; and UN Country Teams (UNCTs) in partnership with governments and NGOs. Ideally proposals will reflect partnerships among government and civil society.

Categories include:

  1. Catalytic, Innovative and Learning initiatives - This category aims to expand the global knowledge base on effective approaches to implement national laws, policies, and action plans by supporting the piloting, testing, evaluation, documentation, and dissemination of innovative or promising approaches on ending violence against women and girls.
  2. Meeting the Implementation and Upscaling Challenge - This category envisions supporting larger-scale initiatives at national, sub-national, and local levels based on multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder partnerships, in stable and post-conflict countries. It is intended to support capacity development and taking to scale of promising or already proven approaches on ending violence against women and girls, in order to expand the coverage and scope of existing national and sub national efforts to implement policies and laws.

Budget requests should be within the range of a minimum of US$300,000 to a maximum of US$1 million total for duration of up to three years. Proposals will be considered for a minimum US$100,000 for two-three years for innovative initiatives from non-governmental and community-based organisations working in conflict situations under the Catalytic and Learning Initiatives category.
