ArtVenture Freedom to Create PrizeRegionGlobal Deadline DateOctober 31 2008 The ArtVenture Freedom to Create Prize has been launched to recognise artists who use their talents to promote creative freedom, empathy, and understanding and confront discrimination and oppression. The award carries a US$100,000 prize divided between three categories – the main prize, a youth prize, and a prize to recognise imprisoned artists. The main prize of US$50,000 is open to artists (individuals or groups) in all creative fields. The Youth Prize is for artists aged 18 years or younger and carries a US$25,000 award. The US$25,000 Imprisoned Artists Prize is for artists currently jailed after they have used their talents to mount a creative protest against oppression. The prize is designed so that a portion of the prize monies from each category will be given to advocacy groups to further causes highlighted by the winning artists/entries.
