Event summary

According to the organisers, the Regional Capacity Building Partners (RECABIP), this course uses participatory, practical, and experiential learning approaches to enable participants to use their experiences and to understand various gender concepts while constructing their own knowledge. The content is designed to reflect regional interests and new thinking in relation to the Millennium Development Goals and universal access targets.

The course content includes:

  • gender concepts and HIV and AIDS;
  • gender analysis in the context of HIV and AIDS;
  • gender and rights mainstreaming frameworks, approaches, and tools;
  • HIV and AIDS vulnerabilities in relation to gender and rights;
  • rights-based approaches to HIV and AIDS programming;
  • interventions for the most vulnerable groups;
  • gender mainstreaming in reproductive health and HIV and AIDS programmes;
  • health systems analysis;
  • sexual reproductive health and rights;
  • advocacy as tool in gender and rights mainstreaming;
  • gender policy approaches; and
  • social mobilisation approaches.

Registration Information

The course is designed for senior and middle-level managers, HIV and AIDS programme planners and policy-makers in private, government, and non-governmental sectors. The course fee is US$800, which covers tuition, certification, lunches, teas, and snacks but excludes accommodation, dinner, travel, and per diems, which participants are required to pay for separately.
