The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat is running the SADC Water Media Awards Competition. The awards are offered in the fields of print, radio, television, and photojournalism. Each category carries a prize of US$2,000.

Entries for the Water Media Awards should highlight any of the following:

• fresh water as a finite and vulnerable resource, essential to sustain life, development, and the environment;
• broader participation in water development and management, involving users, planners, and policy makers at all levels and across sectors;
• the role of women in the provision, management, and safeguarding of water; and
• the economic value of water in all its competing uses and recognising water as both a social and economic good.

Further details on the rules may also be obtained from the department responsible for water affairs in each member state.

Prospective entrants are invited to submit their entries accompanied by proof of their nationality to the National Adjudication Committee in their respective countries.
