Programmes
- MA in Participation, Power and Social Change - The MA in Participation, Power and Social Change is designed for experienced practitioners who have a need to reflect upon and deepen their knowledge, innovation, and practice while continuing to work or volunteer during the 8-month programme . The MA combines academic study, practical experience, and personal reflection. Students carry out an action research project related to their work, inquiring into the challenges of participation and power relations, reflecting on their actions and assumptions, and exploring what it means to facilitate change.

- MA in Gender and Development - This programme is taught jointly with the School of Social and Cultural Studies, University of Sussex. It situates the study of gender and development within an academic social science framework, as well as in the context of policymaking and implementation. The programme aims to equip students with the analytical and conceptual skills needed to understand gender issues in both contexts, enabling them to participate effectively in gender and development-related research, policymaking, and implementation.

- MA in Governance and Development - This programme is intended to provide students with a theoretically informed understanding of the governance and development debates, and to enhance their practical capacity to develop and implement governance policies in public and non-governmental organisational settings. The programme aims to cover both the 'state-centric' and 'societal' aspects of governance, although the primary focus is on the functioning of political institutions within their societal context.
The main objectives of the degree are to enhance the ability of students to:
- Critically assess competing theories of the role of the public sector and public finance in social and economic development;
- Understand the significance of current globalisation processes for international and national institutions;
- Develop policies for improving the effectiveness, accountability, and legitimacy of governance in specific settings.
