Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Awards 2009

The Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Awards 2009 seeks to recognise what the organisers consider to be the best radio programmes contributing to peace in Africa. The awards celebrate radio programmes which reduce tensions in groups and communities, which enhance and give value to shared interests, which break down listener stereotypes, and/or which provide positive role models.

Three prizes will be awarded in each category at an awards ceremony in November 2009. The first prize is €250, while the second in each category is €100, and the third €50.

There are five categories in the Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Awards 2009:

  • Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Community Radio Award
  • Radio for Peacebuilding Gender Award
  • Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Children’s Award
  • Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Youth Award
  • Radio for Peacebuilding Africa Special Award

Application Information

Candidates should visit the Radio for Peacebuilding Africa website or email radiopeaceafrica@sfcg.be to receive or download application forms and the competition's guidelines.

  • Candidates are limited to one programme per category (so maximum 5 entries per person).
  • Entries must be in English or French, or must be accompanied by a full translation in one of these two languages.
  • Programmes must have been broadcast in Africa in 2008.
  • Each entry must include a complete entry form with the radio programme on CD or cassette.
