Strategies for Behaviour Change Seminar

Start Date

October 20 2009

End Date

October 22 2009

Location

Nelspruit, South Africa

Event summary

Organised by Empowerment Concepts, the Strategies for Behaviour Change seminar will explore how to motivate, incentivise, market, and promote ideas and new behaviours, mainly concerning health. However, according to the organisers, the principles and methods covered in this seminar can be applied to many different kinds of behaviours - persuading middle management to support staff development programmes, wearing safety gloves, compliance with medical treatment, studying harder, polluting less, getting tested for HIV, eating healthier foods, wearing condoms, stopping smoking, etc.

This action-learning seminar is based upon two behavioural models: Spiral Dynamics and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). Spiral Dynamics is about how people live in a world of various values and identities, and NLP is about the methods of accessing and working within those values and identities. The organisers state that delegates will learn how to apply the principles of behaviour change within practical action-learning scenarios.
