DIVISION PURPOSE:
The Campaign and Policy Division's purpose is to:
- Lead Oxfam's global campaigns (currently Climate Change, Access to Essential Services and 'Rights in Crisis' - which focuses on improvement in assistance and protection for people in humanitarian crises
- Build Oxfam as a Global Campaigning Force
- Support programme learning and development
- Help develop Oxfam policy on what we do and say to ensure policies are informed by our experience
We will address gender equity in all of our work.
JOB PURPOSE:
As part of our growing international campaign team, to creatively develop and deliver Oxfam GB's analysis and advocacy on global security, conflict and humanitarian issues, playing a key, innovative role in making Oxfam a much more influential voice.
This post will focus primarily on issues of civilian protection in situations of conflict, seeking to improve both the response of national governments and the international community in specific crises, and to improve international norms, laws, practices and protection capacity. Work on specific crises is likely to absorb more time than work on 'systemic' issues.
The post holder will contribute expertise, energy and strategic direction to Oxfam's work in this field, working closely with staff overseas, other affiliates of Oxfam International and external allies. As a 'generic' policy adviser in the Humanitarian and Security issues team, the post holder might in future be asked to work on the policy issues around humanitarian assistance.
