The International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG), formerly, the International Poverty Centre, invites entries in a participatory photography project that aims to promote and showcase visual examples of people winning the battle against poverty, social exclusion, and marginalisation. In extending a call for submissions, the organisation hopes to present alternative visions of development, which is often portrayed through images of desolation and despair. The goal is to illuminate the human face of the initiatives, programmes, ideas, and partnerships that are changing the lives of millions of people throughout the developing and transitional world.
Everyone can contribute a photograph, including professional and non-professional photographers, students, civil society activists, government officials, United Nations (UN) staff members. If a photo is chosen, the participant will be contacted no later than October 30 2009 by the IPC-IG. Chosen photo contributions to this campaign will be acknowledged by a wide dissemination of the work through a range of UN communications tools.
